
The Cedar Falls Civic Foundation is here to assist people wishing to enhance the quality of life in Cedar Falls and vicinity. The Foundation is a public charity managing a permanent collection of long term endowed funds and donations for short term projects.
Endowed funds are established for the long term benefit of Cedar Falls and vicinity. Donors directly impact the quality of life for future generations with the assurance that donated funds will be managed according to their wishes. Funds are invested with the purpose of increasing their value while contributing to the enhancement of cultural, educational, and recreational opportunities of residents.
The Cedar Falls Civic Foundation also serves as a “pass through” organization. Donations for these projects often come from the general public or groups seeking to our quality of life through a one-time project. Individuals or groups are able to make tax deductible donations without forming a non-profit organization. The CFCF Trustees review requests for funding assuring proper accounting and management of funds under the guidelines set up by donors and for specific projects.
About Us
The Cedar Falls Civic Foundation was formed to facilitate charitable giving for programs and projects which benefit the residents of Cedar Falls and vicinity. It is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit organization and was established in Cedar Falls, Iowa in 1977. The foundation is administered by a Board of Trustees made up of community representatives.

The Cedar Falls Civic Foundation announces the first annual Peter Melendy Distinguished Community Contribution Awards to be presented in the late spring of 2011. Nominees will be men and women considered on the basis of their voluntary community contributions that have enhanced, improved, or positively affected the overall quality of life in Cedar Falls. Up to two awards will be presented each year including one posthumous award.
Peter Melendy became a resident of Cedar Falls in 1859 at the age of 36. By living fully and energetically he contributed much to the cultural life and economic development of Cedar Falls. The Peter Melendy Award is open to all Cedar Falls residents who reflect the example set by Peter Melendy. The deadline for nominations is May 1, 2011.
